| Research Abstract |
The purpose of this research is to construct GIS database of official Statistics suited to geographical analysis. Official statistics, such as Population Census and Establishment Census, are arranged into GIS ready databases including Web based GIS. The outcomes of this research are as follows.
1.Creating GIS ready database of Official Statistics
1)1995 and 2000 Population Censuses (Tabulation for Small Areas (cho and aza))
2)1990 and 2000 Population Censuses (Tabulation on Internal Migration)
3)1975-2000 Population Censuses (Grid Square Statistics (mesh data))
4)1996 and 2001 Establishment and Enterprise Censuses (Tabulation for Small Areas (cho and aza, Enumeration District))
5)GIS for Health statistics
2.Development of utilities for GIS of official statistics
1)Municipality Map Maker (MMM) : Generating the boundaries of municipalities at any date after 1^<st> April 1970
2)Komatsubara : Converting National Digital Map 25000 to shape files
3)Handling of suppressed data in tabulation of Small Areas (cho and aza)
4)Extracting the GIS data from government websites based on Excel VBA
3.Web GIS for providing population censuses by Small Areas
4.Geographical research using official statistics
