| Research Abstract |
数理生態学にあらわれるcross-diffusion方程式の極限方程式は,未知の定積分項を含む非局所非線形2階楕円型境界値問題である.従来の方法では,全く解析の手段が分からなかったものである.Lou-Ni-Yotsutaniの共著論文において,全く新しい解析手法を発見し,この方程式の定常解の構造の概容を解明した.現在,さらに詳細な解析を行っている.
この解析で得られた新しい手法は,さまざまの分野にあらわれる,未解決の非局所問題の解析に有効であることが分かってきた.例えば,1927年,流体力学者Oseen(オセーン)が発見した2次元ナビエ・ストークス方程式の分岐理論的な完全理解をIkeda-Kondo-Okamoto-Yotsutaniの共著論文で示した.
関連する話題として,半線形楕円型方程式の正値球対称解に関する,柳田英二教授との約10年間にわたる共同研究の内容中心とするレビュー論文の英訳版が刊行された.内容は次の通りである.
ここ20年間いろんな領域,境界条件のもとで,個別にいろいろな結果が得られている.方程式や境界条件がわずかにかわるだけで,全く別の計算を必要とする.本論文では,球対称な半線形楕円型方程式に対して,巧妙な変数変換を行うことにより一つの標準形に帰着でき,一見複雑にみえる様々な境界条件も,Dirichlet, Neumann, Robin境界条件と解釈できることを示した.この結果をYanagida-Yotsutaniによる全空間における解の構造定理と結びつけ,標準形に対する解の構造定理を得た.これにより,従来は未知であった特異解を含めた解の構造を明らかにでき,同時に,統一的な理解を可能とした.
