| Research Abstract |
平成15年度科学研究費補助金の目的に沿い,南インド・マダガスカル・南アフリカにおいて、変成岩に関る石墨・その他の炭酸塩鉱物の産状調査・試料を採集しました。南、インド変成帯での石墨は、生物起源やマントル起源のさまざまな起源の炭素で構成されていると考えられています。炭素同位体比の結果から、生物起源の値(〜-30‰)からマントル起源の重い値(〜-5‰)まで、広い範囲の値を得た。その理由は、石墨を含んだ泥質片麻岩が部分融解するときに炭素同位体比の分配によると考え、現在その分配過程について、研究を行っています。もうひとつの結果として、石墨(2x0.8cm大)の単結晶内では、流体から結晶が成長していく過程における、炭素同位体の分配の記録を見つけることができました。結晶は、(0001)面に平行にスパイラルグロウス過程に従って成長をはじめ、次の層が順に重なっていくと考えています。現在は東ゴンドワナ超大陸地殻のさまざまな地域において石墨による研究を進めています。
