Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
During the Fiscal Year 2015, we have achieved the implantation of the technique of cancer spheroid formation within the laboratory. This was the first milestone in the realization of our final goal which is the development of a 3D-in vitro tumor model on-a-chip. To reach that goal, another key step is to develop a new “chip” that allows the combination of a blood vessel model - technology available in the lab, with a cancer spheroid. We designed 2 prototypes that are currently under investigations. These devices raised some technical issues and solving them may requires to design other prototypes. From another hand, we have started to work on a perfusion system that use a peristaltic pump.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The research has been going well as we expected. However, we had to carry over the budget (0.3 million yen) to Fiscal Year 2016 because the date of workshop in France had been extended to Fiscal Year 2016. The carried budge was appropriately used for the expense of travel.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In the coming fiscal year, we are planning to communicate about our progress at the international conference named TERMIS (Tissue Engineering International & Regenerative Medicine Society), as well as during the annual meetings with our french collaborators of SMMiL-E and LiMMS.
