Outline of Annual Research Achievements

・全固体フォトニックバンドギャップファイバのフォトニックバンドギャップの特性を光カー効果により制御して,全固体フォトニックバンドギャップファイバの透過特性を変化させ,光変調への応用を検討した.光カー効果は非線形光学効果の一種で媒質の屈折率が 光強度に依存して変化する現象であり, 超高速動作が期待できる.スタック&ドロー法を用いて 全固体フォトニックバンドギャップファイバの作製に成功し,光カー効果によって全固体フォトニックバンドギャップファイバの透過 特性を変化させる事で, 最大20 dBの強度変調を実現できる可能性を初めて明らかにし,応答速度10ピコ秒以下の高速光強度変調ができることを初めて明らかにした.
・ステップインデックス型光ファイバによるSC光発生を検証するため,As2Se3ガラスをコア,AsSe2ガラスを第一クラッド、As2S5を第2クラッドとしたダブルクラッド光ファイバによるSC光の発生を検討し,2から14μmに亘る高コヒーレントSC光の発生を確認した.中赤外域で高コヒーレントSC光を発生できることを実証したのは世界で初めてである.また,この成果はこれまで困難であった光ファイバによる中赤外域での光周波数コムの発生が可能になったことを示すものである.
・AsSe2ガラスをコア,As2S5ガラスをクラッドとしたテーパーカルコゲナイドファイバにより,短波長励起による1.5から14.5μmに亘るエネルギー変換効率が30%に及ぶSC光の発生が可能であることを初めて明らかにした.
・ファイバ作製時のフォトニック結晶ファイバ径の変動による波長分散特性の揺らぎをコアの周囲にコアより屈折率の低い層を付与することにより抑制できることを見出し,カルコゲナイド光ファイバの波長分散ゆらぎに起因する中赤外パラメトリック増幅特性の劣化を抑制できることを明らかにした.
