Outline of Final Research Achievements

From the viewpoint of Japanese language education, we tackled various problems related to word segmentation or morphological analysis. (1) We have developed a tool for making it easy for people involved in Japanese language education to use it, and have constructed the linguistic knowledge necessary for the tool. (2) We worked on a research on the disambiguation of word sense. If the meaning of words can be analyzed properly, more accurate text analysis and language statistics can be obtained than before. The purpose of this research project was to focus on "reru/rareru" and hiragana word meaning identification necessary for Japanese language education. (3) We worked on Japanese grammatical error correction. For more accurate text analysis and self-study, this research project focused on errors such as Kanji errors and particle errors that Japanese beginners are likely to make.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究成果によって(1)単語区切りを行う技術がツール化されたことによって日本語教育の研究者や現場で容易に形態素解析を行うことができるようになった。(2)日本語教育に必要な「れる・られる」やひらがな語などの語義曖昧性解消がより正確に行えるようになった。(3)日本語学習者の漢字誤りや助詞誤りに対して(従来技術よりも正確に)訂正することができるようになった。
