光角運動量移行その場観察による無機固体物質不斉制御研究

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

放射光Ｘ線の高精度な偏光変調技術を開発し、結晶カイラリティの識別感度の大幅な向上を実現した。このことは、より僅かな原子配列の差異を捉えることを可能にするので、研究対象となり得る候補物質を増やすうえでも、物質への光角運動量移行の影響を捉えるうえでも、大きな効果が期待できる研究開発成果であったと言える。これにより、禁制反射を持たないためにカイラリティドメイン観察が困難であったB20型結晶構造の物質、具体的にはFe1-xCoSi等の物質で、カイラリティドメイン観察を実現できる技術的目途がたった。それらと並行して、不斉物質に光角運動量を移行するためのレーザー光照射システムの構築を行った。QスイッチNd:YLFレーザーから第二高調波を取り出してラゲールガウスビームを生成し、それをμmの位置分解能で試料に照射するための機構を整備し、コンビナトリアル評価のための試験片を作成する装置を完成させた。また、Fe1-xCoxSiと同程度の融点を持つシリコン単結晶を、レーザーパルス照射により実際に溶融再凝固させ、本研究に必要な照射フルエンスが達成されていることを確認した。一方、レーザー光の照射条件を絞り込むために、今後大量の試料結晶が必要になるのでその育成を進めた。CsCuCl3については撹拌法及び蒸発法を組み合わせた手法を、Fe1-xCoxSiについてはブリッジマン法を採用することで、不斉な無機固体物質のcmオーダーの結晶を得ることができた。

Reason

今年度は、装置および手法の開発を進めつつ、Fe1-xCoxSiおよびCsCuCl3単結晶の育成条件を探索し、今後の効率的なスクリーニング作業の準備を整えることを計画していた。実際に、十分な量の単結晶が育成され、試料が安定供給される見通しが立った。さらに、少しずつ条件を変えてラゲールガウスビームを照射したコンビナトリアル評価用の試料を、放射光Ｘ線で顕微観察する準備も既に整っており、ビームタイムの配分を待つのみである。研究計画の見直しが必要な問題は発生しておらず、おおむね計画通りに進捗していると自己評価している。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

平成28年度以降は、当初の計画通り、不斉物質への光角運動量移行の影響を、放射光Ｘ線を用いた結晶カイラリティの顕微観察により評価し、レーザー光の適正照射条件を探索する。初めにコンビナトリアル試料により評価を進め、並行してレーザー光照射下での結晶成長その場観察セットアップを構築し、様々な条件で光角運動量移行の影響を調査し、無機固体物質の不斉制御の実現に繋げる予定である。また、Fe1-xCoxSiの結晶構造の左右が切り替わる組成付近の単結晶を育成し、光角運動量移行の度合いについて構造不安定性の観点からも検討を加える予定である。
