火星大気流出における領域間結合の役割の研究

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、火星の二酸化炭素(CO2)の流出機構の中でも特に不確定性が大きい「電離圏CO2+の流出機構」を解明することを目的とする。特に、太陽風からの運動量輸送などの上側からの領域間結合と、大気重力波に起因する乱流拡散や大規模風速場の変化などの下側からの領域間結合の影響が、電離圏CO2+の流出に果たす役割を明らかにすることを目指している。計画1年目である平成27年度には、下層大気起源の大気重力波が超高層大気に及ぼす影響を明らかにするために、下層大気起源の大気重力波を含む場合と含まない場合の火星大気大循環モデル計算を実行した。そして得られた計算結果をMAVEN衛星搭載のNGIMSやIUVSの初期観測データと比較し、波動振幅やCO2密度の高度分布などを比較した初期結果を学術論文として公表した。大気大循環モデルから期待される大気重力波のパラメータを火星熱圏・外圏DSMC計算の境界条件として組み込み、特定のスペクトルについて大気重力波振幅の高度分布などの初期計算結果を得た。さらにHisaki衛星による金星超高層大気の周期変動解析により、中層大気から超高層大気への大気重力波伝搬もしくは太陽風相互作用の影響を示唆する結果を得て、学術論文として公表した。太陽風から電離圏への運動量輸送については、MGS衛星データを用いて火星電離圏界面における太陽風侵入構造の観測的制約を得て学術論文として公表するとともに、火星電離圏界面におけるK-H不安定性の局所シミュレーションを実行して混合層構造をMAVEN衛星の初期観測結果と比較した。火星電磁圏のグローバル多成分磁気流体力学コードにBohm型異常粘性項とプラズマ分子粘性項を用いて粘性効果を組み込み、太陽風からの運動量輸送効果が電離圏流速に及ぼす影響を評価する準備を進めた。

Current Status of Research Progress

Reason

当初計画では、MAVEN衛星（2014年9月に火星周回軌道投入に成功）の観測データが取得されて間もない計画1年目の平成27年度には、MAVEN衛星観測データの解析立上げに時間を要することを見越して既存の探査機データも積極的に活用することを計画していたが、MAVEN衛星の観測データ解析が当初の想定以上に順調に進み、観測データ解析においてはMAVEN, Hisaki, MGSなどの複数の衛星データ解析において当初の計画を上回る成果を得て、複数の学術論文として公表した。数値シミュレーションにおいても大気大循環モデルなどでは当初の計画を上回る成果を得て複数の学術論文として成果を公表した。しかしながら、多成分磁気流体力学コードの開発・実行補助を行う研究員の確保に困難が生じたため、繰越を行うこととなった。繰越の結果、多成分磁気流体力学コードの開発・実行は順調に進んでおり、計画は概ね予定通り達成されている。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

今後はMAVEN衛星等の観測データの蓄積が期待されるので、長期観測データを用いて大気重力波の統計解析を行い、火星熱圏における大気重力波の振幅・スペクトル特性とそれらの緯度分布・経度分布・季節変動を求める。そして統計解析結果と大気大循環モデルや熱圏・外圏DSMCモデルとの比較を通して、火星熱圏における大気重力波の分布や季節変動を説明する物理機構の検討を行う。太陽風から電離圏への運動量輸送については、火星電離圏界面におけるK-H不安定性の局所シミュレーションとMAVEN衛星の観測データとの比較を進めて、大きな密度勾配が存在するプラズマ境界層におけるK-H不安定性の初期条件や時空間発展などの理論検討を進める。そしてこれらの衛星観測と局所シミュレーションに基づいて電離圏界面における輸送・混合効率を評価し、多成分磁気流体力学コードへの粘性効果の組み込みと電離圏流速への影響の評価を進める。
