Asymmetric Photoreactions through Charge-Transfer Band Excitations

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

電子受容体と電子供与体との基底状態相互作用により、電荷移動錯体が生成し、主として可視光領域に新しい電荷移動吸収帯が生じる。電荷移動吸収帯の波長選択的な励起を行うと、エキシプレックスとは異なる励起状態錯体が生成できる。この錯体は基底状態構造を反映した構造と反応性を有し特異な反応性を示す。キラル光反応において、このような励起種を活用し、不斉合成の新しい方法論のとして実証し、より精密な立体制御指針を示すことが本研究の目的である。
多角的な検討を進める中で、基底状態相互作用の度合いが立体選択性にどのような影響を与えるかを検討し、続いて弱い相互作用が与える影響について精査した。例えば、励起錯体形成においてその電子的状態を変えなくても、異なる選択性が発現することを明らかとすることができた。このような現象は、いわゆるエンタルピー的な観点からは説明することが難しく、系のエントロピーが制御因子となっていることを示唆している。また、短寿命な一重項励起状態だけでなく三重項励起状態の反応においても上記のような反応制御の方法論が拡張可能であることも明らかとなった。一連の研究で、キラルな電荷移動錯体の特徴を実用可能な不斉光反応系へと展開できることを実証し、合成反応への応用への足掛かりができた。
一連の成果は36報の原著論文として公表したほか、国際会議の招待講演などで発表を行った。これまでの成果が分野内で認められ、2017年度の光化学協会賞の受賞にも結び付いた。なお、現在、予定を前倒しし、最終年度前応募により研究の再構築を行い、新たなプロジェクトして発展的な研究へと展開しているほか、国際共同強化研究としてミュンヘン工科大学との共同研究についても発展的に進めており、今後、さらに大きく研究を展開していきたいと考えている。
