Outline of Annual Research Achievements

ハワイ大・天文学研究所と協力してハワイ・ハレアカラ山頂に口径40cmシュミット(可視)・60cmカセグレン(可視・赤外)を整備し、我々が独自開発した赤外・可視分光器や国内外の持込機器を装着した「惑星専用望遠鏡」として安定稼働させた。これによってはじめて可能となる貴重な長期連続・継続観測活動機会との連携を求めて，ハワイ・マウナケア山頂(Subaru-8m，IRTF-3m)やアタカマ/ALMA、NASA/SOFIAといった大型望遠鏡の公開観測時間を獲得し、これらの赤外・サブミリ波観測も連動させ有意義な成果を挙げた。具体的には、(1) 木星: イオトーラス変動（可視撮像）、オーロラの垂直構造導出・短時間脈動変動（近赤外分光・撮像）、対流圏・成層圏活動の検出（中間赤外撮像）、日周変動からの系外惑星研究への示唆（中間赤外撮像）、(2) 火星・金星: 高層大気の温度場・速度場検出（赤外ヘテロダイン）、メタン・HDO等の生成・消失過程（近赤外分光）、(3)水星: 希薄流出大気の変動追跡（可視）、(4) 系外惑星の偏光検出観測を実施。我々が運用するJAXA極端紫外線望遠鏡衛星ひさき(主に木星)、および我々が参加する欧Mars Express・米MAVEN・欧ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter (火星)、JAXAあかつき(金星)、米Juno(木星)を支える「国際観測網」の一翼を担うことができた。
2015-6年度の観測で得たデータは、複数の査読論文・学会発表として結実させた。2017-8年度に得たデータも、学会発表で成果報告を行い、また論文公表を目指して解析を進めている。
さらに、観測に伴うマウイ島長期滞在機会を活かし、ハワイ大・ドイツ・ブラジルグループらと共同建設中の1.8m惑星・系外惑星専用望遠鏡「PLANETS」のハレアカラ現地における検討・作業に参加し，主鏡ラフ研磨作業(東北大の別途資金による)、望遠鏡構造の設計・開発、および観測所予定敷地の環境アセスメント作業に直接的な貢献を行った。
