Outline of Annual Research Achievements

超高感度のパッシブ型THz近接場顕微鏡(SNOM)により,常温物質のミクロな熱揺らぎにともなう極微弱なTHz電磁波(波長: 15 μm)を,20 nmの超高分解能で検出することができる.本研究の目的は,表面電子系が本質的な役割を果たす物質現象をより深く探るため,1)
観察対象を極低温(4.2 K)まで拡張し,2) 8~20 μmの範囲で分光が可能で,かつ3) トンネル電流誘起によるTHz電磁場を検出可能,という新概念の極低温SNOM/STMを構築し,グラフェン等の表面新奇物性を探ることである.
平成29年度は,検出器CSIP(Charge Sensitive Infrared Phototransistor)の広帯域化と低温SNOM/STMの構築,評価をさらに押し進めた.CSIPに関しては,以前開発した2色型CSIPの発展形である3色CSIP用のGaAs/AlGaAs四重量子井戸ウエハ上に検出器を作製し,8μmから15μmに渡る広帯域CSIPを実現した.低温SNOM/STMに関しては,4.2Kにおいて金属配線に直流バイアスを印加して低温用ステージで水平駆動し,10μmオーダの分解能による遠隔場信号取得に成功している.加えて,低温でのAFM駆動に成功し,25 nmの段差を持つ標準試料によって高さ方向分解能が1nmオーダに到達することを確認した.近接場信号検出に向けて観察光学系を改良し,低温SNOM/STMを完成させた.
