Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Coordination nanosheets are metal ions bonded with ligands to form two dimensional sheets. NiDI was formed from nickel(II) ions and hexaaminobenzene ligand. Initially, it was found that the NiDI did not form nicely. It was then realised that oxidation is required for the formation of the sheet. With slow oxidation, the formation is slow and the resulting nanosheet is very crystalline. As such, a new method of synthesis which makes use of oxidation as one of the formation requirements is created. As such, this is a very effective method for the synthesis for these types of nanosheets which makes use of the hexaaminobenzene ligand.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.
Reason
NiDI was previously formed from nickel(II) ions and hexaaminobenzene ligand. Other types of hexaaminobenzene types of nanosheets are now also being attempted.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Other types of metal ions, such as palladium(II) and platinum(II) ions, will be attempted to form PdDI and PtDI respectively. Some devices of PdDI and PtDI would also be attempted.
