Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In order to prepare transplantable hepatocyte sheets with maintaining hepatic functions, a thermoresponsive culture system mimicking biological environments was designed. Transplantable hepatocyte sheets could be prepared while maintaining hepatic functions on a heparin-immobilized thermoresponsive surface containing a component of basement membrane such as growth factors. It was also possible to quantitatively evaluate the temperature-dependent affinity between cellular receptor/growth factor/the heparin-immobilized thermoresponsive surfaces. By using flexible basal substrate and microfluidic devices, more advanced hepatocyte sheet tissue culture system would be constructed.
