| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I undertook preliminary investigations in New Zealand, from August 11th to 21st 2015. Visits to Te papa and the National Library located in Wellington yeilded archival materials regarding the tour of the Hiroshima panels, produced by Iri and Toshi Maruki to New Zealand.Visits to the Auckland Public Library and Auckland Art Gallery yeilded further materials that evidence how the Hiroshima panels were received by the New Zealand public, and how images of Hiroshima were subsequently incorporated by New Zealand artists into their anti-nuclear works.
I gave two presentations based on my findings from the above trip: the first, which was given at Waseda University on November 3rd 2015 focused on the images of Hiroshima which proliferate throughout New Zealand anti-nuclear art.
The second which was given at Hirosaki University on November 7th focused on Hone Tuwhare's anti-nuclear poetry inspired by his experience Hiroshima as a member of the J-force.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
I was able to find relevant archival evidence essential to my research and to trace the influence images of Hiroshima have exerted on anti nuclear art produced by New Zealand artists.
I was able to present my findings to receptive audiences on two occasions.

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I plan to present my findings in a chapter of an edited book which will be published this year, and a paper of an academic journal the following year.

| Causes of Carryover |
Due to time restrictions I was not able to spend as much time as I needed in New Zealand.I need further time in New Zealand to complete this research.

I plan to take another trip to New Zealand to further my investigations.
