Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
During the period in which I undertook this research I was able to verify that images of Hiroshima had a profound impact on New Zealander's perceptions of nuclear weaponry, and reverberated in the anti-nuclear art, music and literature produced by New Zealanders. I summarized my initial findings in an address given at Waseda University in November 2015 entitled "nyujirando no hankaku geijutsu ni mochiirareta hiroshima no imeji gun". I then wrote a chapter entitled " Hiroshima o mokugeki shita maorijin shijin Hone Tuwhare" in a book,"osutoraria nyujirando bungakuronshu" published in 2017. Finally, my paper entitled "The Hiroshima Panels: Their reverberations in the Arts of Nuclear Free New Zealand" is forthcoming in the 2018 journal of the Japan Society for New Zealand Studies.
