Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study attempted to prove the mutual influence between the photographer Walker Evans and other Modernists. Using previously unknown facts found in archival research, this study offered new readings of many undervalued magazine works by Evans, Faulkner, and Hemingway.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究の学術的社会的意義は、二点である。第一に、アーカイヴ資料に基づく研究手法によって、完成作品だけでなく、その生産過程、分配、販売といった過程を含めて、研究したことである。第二に、これまで適切に評価されてこなかった二人の雑誌掲載作品を研究対象に据え分析することで、新たな作品評価に繋げたことである。
