Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study has successfully made clear pragmatic preferences in choosing a particular constructions among the Japanese speakers. These preferences induce particularized or conventionalized implicatures and helps lexical elements grammaticalized into new syntactic structures, which work as new auxiliary verbs or postpositions in Japanese. In particular, because of the syntactic properties of Japanese, which allows multiple tense markings in a single complex predicate, we can make use of new constructional implicatures in the pragmatic study of Japanese.
