Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research is based on the previous Kaken research about grammatical judgement of intervention effects. The research developed in three areas. First, a proposal has been made to account for the common aspects of intervention effects in Japanese and Sinhala. Secondly, a syntactic and semantic analysis of indeterminates (or wh-elements) with focusing particles in Japanese and Korean. The comparison between the two language has also been made and an explanation has been provided. Finally, the research has suggested a possibility that languages employ a different strategy to escape the subjacency condition. In other words, alternative semantics and binding must be employed.
