Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research was to evaluate the effectiveness of a new instructional approach to assist students learning a foreign language by using ICT supports. Students created video projects using 4 parts: (1)use speech-to-text apps (such as Dragon Dictation) to practice pronunciation, (2)create a short conversational script while using multilingual sentence databases (such as Tatoeba Project and Linguee), (3)record videos of themselves, (4)conduct a structured self-evaluation. This instructional method was repeated three times in a 15-week semester. Students appeared to enjoy this method of learning a foreign language and reported feeling highly motivated by each activity. They enjoyed using multiple technologies to assist their learning, especially the objective feedback.
