Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Following the new course of study, the teaching of English as a formal subject has begun, and the instruction of English letters has also been introduced into the fifth and sixth-grade public school curriculum. However, it can not be said that effective teaching methods capitalizing on the progress of English activities have been established. In this study, elementary schools already engaged in letter instruction prior to the current transitional period were surveyed and their instructional tendencies were examined. Moreover, implicit instruction of letters, ICT-based instruction, and teaching methods connecting letter instruction to the teaching of sentence structures are proposed.
