Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
During Fiscal Year 2017 our team gave presentations to two local groups of elementary school teachers, PIGATE and ESL Cafe. We gained valuable insight from the teachers present and made corresponding adaptations to the content of our website and app.
We also gave an English language presentation at the annual conference of the Japan Association of Language Teachers (JALT) where we presented the context of our project and enabled participants to trial our resources.
We have additionally published a report on our initial needs analysis.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Changes to Elementary School English curricula, particularly the change in textbooks, has affected our work slightly. We have nevertheless created a fully functioning website.
The "Fluency Builder" plug-in has been finished and is operational. There are some technical problems with the Moodle Mobile App which we hope will be resolved with the coming Moodle update (3.5). The website remains unaffected.
Once Moodle version 3.5 is released and stable, we will produce our own "Eigo" custom App.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Fiscal Year 2018 will see us promoting our website and App to teachers via workshops and conference presentations. We will continue to collect feedback and make revisions where feasible.
|
Causes of Carryover |
We will use the remaining funds to present our project at workshops and conferences. We will also require some funding for continued website hosting, a branded App, as well as any custom programming work.
