Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We have excavated Sukunami site at the Tottori Sand Dunes from 2014 to 2016. Four times excavation revealed thousands of Human land use at sand dunes. From 5000y.BP (Middle Jomon) to 4000y.BP (Late Jomon), the Tottori Sand Dunes began to form and extend. After that, sand dunes changed to grassland three times: 2600y.BP (Middle Yayoi), 2000y.BP(Late Yayoi), 1600-1500y.BP(Middle, Late Kofun), and various human activities were observed. Especially, 1600-1500y.BP(Middle, Late Kofun), plant opal analysis suggests that sand dunes might be cultivated to rice field.
