Outline of Final Research Achievements

The main outcomes of this research project can be summarized as follows. First, it analyzed the functions and dynamics of governance platforms by successfully executing an international research project. Second, it demonstrated a promise of an interdisciplinary approach to governance platforms. Third, it examined not only the United Nations Global Compact but also other global governance initiatives such as the Sustainable Development Goals.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、これまで主に経営学で論じられてきたプラットフォームの概念を国際政治学（グローバル・ガバナンス論）に応用して、持続可能な開発などのグローバルな課題に対処するためのプラットフォーム（ガバナンス・プラットフォーム）を構想した。とくに、ガバナンス・プラットフォームが何を意味するか、どのような機能を果たすか、どのようなタイプに分けられるかを明らかにした。
また、ガバナンス・プラットフォームをはじめとする、ガバナンスの様々な方法（ガバナンス・モード）を検討して、グローバルな課題に対処するための選択肢を広く示した。
