Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
During FY2015, we made progress in the following areas.
Updated our data collection. Our existing data collection consisted of Toyo Keizai’s Directory of Executives for the years 1990 to 2010. In order to update our data collection, we purchased an additional set of five years of Toyo Keizai data, specifically for the years 2011 to 2015, in order to expand our coverage from 1990 to 2015. Data cleaning for the newly acquired data is now underway. We anticipate that the new data will be ready to be merged with our existing data by August.
Presented our research findings. We presented preliminary research findings at the Organization Science and Knowledge Entrepreneurs Seminar at Hitotsubashi University on November 2015. This seminar is organized by a network of researchers who are studying organizations from a multi-disciplinary perspective. Researchers come from many disciplines including economics, sociology, management and psychology. We gained valuable feedback on our research, and constructive suggestions on how to improve the quality of our research.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
We experienced some delays in the summer as we decided to wait until late 2015 in order to take advantage of the discounted purchase price of the Toyo Keizai data. However, we were able to catch up to our original schedule after the purchase. Updating the data collection (as explained above) is progressing close to our original schedule.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
We aim to make significant progress in 2016. We are eager to complete the data cleaning so that we can start conducting econometric analysis and simulations. We also plan to present our research findings at a research seminar and/or international conference towards the end of the year to gain further feedback of our updated research.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Owing to our efforts to save on our expenses and purchase costs, we incurred a positive balance at the end of the fiscal year. Also, we were able to accomplish data cleaning and preparation ourselves rather than hiring a research assistant. This also led to savings in personnel costs that we had originally allocated.
|
Expenditure Plan for Carryover Budget |
We would like to allocate more personnel expenses as we may need some extensive assistance in FY2016.
