Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This project was originally motivated by our preliminary discovery of stars that show nearly perfect black-body spectrum. With a systematic search we found 17 such stars at magnitude 17th to 19th (nonebrighter) out of 800,000 stars in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS)data archives. We hoped we publish the result after we confirm the photometric zero point with laboratory experiment, but this was delayed due to problems in Subaru Telescope. We then decided to publish our discovery with the provisional zero point set by SDSS zero point. The overall consistency across various colour bands indicates that the SDSS zero points are correct as they stood: at the same time this invalidates attempts to midify SDSS zero points by adding some offsets. With stellar atmosphere work we confirmed that these black-body stars are DB white dwarfs.
Our preparation of experiment at Subaru is ready, and we can carry out once their preparation is ready. Separately, we prepare to initiate observations to construct standard star network for infrared photometry, in parallel to our zero point experiment, both in Hawaii.

Reason
We have almost all material needed for calibration in hand and verified inlaboratories (NAO). We are ready to start laboratory calibration experiment, once the Subaru team give us "go".

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
We are preparing for observations of standard stars to construct the calibrator network separately, parallel to our calibration work,in prior to the zero point verification work.

Causes of Carryover |
1)すばる望遠鏡のハッチ不具合というアクシデントにみまわれ遅延が生じた。トラブル解消後もすばる側の使用ルール変更により、実験に立ち会うすばるスタッフとのスケジュール調整が必要になった。2)遅延により生じた期間、ランプ(光源)のスペクトラム検証に充てることを決めたが、その過程で当初のスペクトラムに不均一性が発見され、現在それがどこからくるものかについて調査を行う。 物品費:700,000円 旅費:800,000円
