| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
中国チベットの珪質岩セクションにおいて古第三紀放散虫の検討を行い，Lychnocanium属などの３新種を含む放散虫群集について記載論文を公表した．本研究にともない，古第三紀の放散虫について，進化系統を把握することができた．沖縄県伊江島から産するペルム紀から白亜紀の放散虫の産出について論文として公表した．沖縄での現生放散虫研究について，過去20年にわたる研究史を振り返るとともに，研究方法についての解説書を英文で出版した．2016年度に執筆した現生放散虫の英文カタログを併用することにより，未経験の人でも現生放散虫研究に親しむことができる．
第15回国際放散虫研究集会(InterRad XV in Niigata 2017)を2017年10月22日－27日の会期で新潟大学において開催し，世界の放散虫研究者との交流を深めた．16カ国から187人の参加者があった．この国際会議にかかわる巡検案内書を新潟大学理学部紀要（Science Reports of Niigata University (Geology)）第32号（補遺）として出版した．また，InterRad XVの概要は，新潟大学理学部紀要第33号に英文で報告されている．なお，この国際研究集会の論文集は，Island Arc，Paleontological Research，Revue de Micropaleontologie，地質調査研究報告の4誌の特集号として出版される．6編の原著論文をこれらの特集号に投稿中である．
InterRad XV特集号とは別に，スロベニア，スペイン，スイス，アメリカの研究者との共著による中生代放散虫層序についての総説論文を執筆し，投稿した．化石帯を設定するにあたり，放散虫の系統進化を認識することが重要であることが強調されている．
