Outline of Annual Research Achievements

電磁界シミュレーションの産業応用への効率的な活用技術の開拓を目途し,PCなどの電子製品設計環境に直結でき,かつ,ターンアラウンドタイムが短く即応性があり試行錯誤的な製品設計にも利用可能なポータブルハイパフォーマンスコンピューティング技術の有力な方式として,専用計算機の方法に着目し,これを市販のFPGA基板にて手軽に実現する方式の検討を行った.とりわけ,本研究計画では,産業応用の場でも比較的要望の強いマイクロ波シミュレーションを最初の例に,これをターゲットとしたFDTD(時間領域差分)法専用計算機の開発を行った.すでに,研究計画開始時点で,データフローアーキテクチャに基づいた超高性能計算が可能な回路方式を提案し,標準的なハードウェア記述言語であるVHDLにより回路設計を行い,また,回路シミュレーションによりマイクロ波シミュレータとしての動作確認まで完了させており,本計画では,これらの基本設計を,実用利用に耐えうるよう大幅な改良を行った.具体的には,以下を重点的に検討し実現可能性の確証が得られた.
(1)シミュレーションをより高性能化・大規模化するのための基本回路の効率化
(2)マイクロ波シミュレーションの適用範囲を拡大すべく分散媒質を取扱う回路の実装
解析領域外側のみで使われほとんどの計算で未使用状態になっている吸収境界条件用の回路を流用し回路サイズを増加させるなくプラズマ等の分散媒質を取扱う機能を追加した.
(3)飛躍的により大規模問題を取扱うための領域分割計算機能の実装
領域分割計算を実装することで,計算性能の増加はないものの1つのLSIで広い解析領域のシミュレーションを可能にする機能を追加した.
