Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study is aimed to redefine the process of Western-styled architecture, based on the investigation of career of architect-engineers, who came to Japan in the opening-port era. Related studies were once concentrated to domestic cases, and consequently their process to Japan remain unclear. However, the development of databases world wide enables to trace the footpaths of human activities in 19-20th centuries. The purpose of this study is to review and reconsider the process of the introduction of Western-styled architecture into Japan through the analysis of adventure-engineer.
