Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Lithium insertion materials are electrode materials in lithium-ion batteries, which have been widely used as power sources for portable electronic devices. Objective of this research is to find structural and electronic factors affecting electrode potentials of solid-state redox reactions in the materials. Theoretical and experimental approaches revealed that electrode potentials of lithium insertion materials depends on transition metal ions as a solid-state redox couple rather than crystal structure.
