Outline of Final Research Achievements

Most land plants establish symbiosis with arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM) fungi. Studies for uncovering the molecular mechanisms of AM symbiosis in angiosperm are facing difficulties resulting from gene redundancy. To circumvent this problem, we are recently focusing on a basal plant, Marchantia paleacea subsp. diptera.
In this project, we tried to establish an efficient transformation method. We changed some cultivation condition of both M. paleacea and Agrobacterium tumefaciens and successfully improved the transformation efficiency.
Our results will contribute the better understanding of the molecular mechanism of AM symbiosis.
