Outline of Final Research Achievements

We investigated species of wild population in the genus Lilium section Archelirion by using morphological data and SSR analysis. As a result, their genetic diversity, interspecific relations, heredity structure were revealed. In addition, the ancestral species of some oriental hybrid cultivars is becoming clear.
To clarify the accumulation of the site-specific pigmentation in petal, reddish mid lib of `Dizzy' was used for analysis. Several genes were isolated and they were related to anthocyanin biosynthesis and transportation. Within them, three R2R3-MYB genes were strongly expressed in reddish mid lib and MYB12 was a main transcription factor of this pigmentation. By comparison with sequence analysis of the MYB12 in section Archelirion, this MYB12 was derived from L. auratum.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
