Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The activation of an AMPK in a subset of CRH-positive neurons in the paraventricular hypothalamus mediates the fasting-induced increase in high carbohydrate selection. The hepatokine, FGF21, modulates AMPK responsible CRH neurons directly. This mechanism might contribute the rapid recovery from the energy crisis in the starvation.
