Ultrahigh dose-rate, "FLASH" micro-slit-beam irradiation shifted by a large factor the threshold dose required to initiate lung fibrosis without loss of the antitumor efficiency, suggesting that the method might be used to advantage to reduce the occurrence and severity of early and late complications affecting normal tissue.
