Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We undertook a metagenomic approach to characterize the bacterial infection associated with acute cholecystitis and cholangitis. More than 100 cases included this analyses during 3 years. Metagenomic analysis demonstrated possible single or multiple bacteria infections within 24 h. Also, antimicrobial resistance including extended-spectrum beta-lactamase gene could be identified in other 24 h. Metagenomic analysis was useful for rapid bacterial diagnosis including assessing potential antimicrobial susceptibility in patients with acute cholecystitis and cholangitis. We have already reported preliminary 6 cases(Kujiraoka M, Front Microbial 2017). Now, we prepare to report total analytic cases.
