Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Antibiotic therapy for preterm labor cases are effective for maternal infection, but it is rather worse for neonatal prognosis. However, intra-amniotic microbes are not evaluated. A rapid and sensitive PCR system developped in our hospital could evaluate intra-amniotic microbes accurately. By using this PCR system, in positive-cases with intra-amniotic microbes, an appropriate antibiotic therapy could prolong the gestational days, whereas in negative-cases, an antibiotic had shortened the gestational period. The intra-amniotic microbes should be detected accurately and an appropriate antibiotic therapy might be able to be a new strategy in management of preterm labor.
