Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The purposes of this study were to explore factors related to perceived control and health-related quality of life from during admission to 6 months after discharge of Japanese patients with acute coronary syndrome. Data were collected from patients who were admitted to three university hospitals in Tokyo metropolitan area for the treatment. As results, higher perceived control, in addition to lower anxiety and fatigue, was significantly related to higher health-related quality of life. Higher income was the most important factor for higher perceived control. Gender, age and education were indirectly related to perceived control through income. Higher perceived control during admission was associated to better health-related quality of life at 3 months. Although perceived control was significantly lower compared to that in other countries, it was an important factor for health-related quality of life of the Japanese patients. It is necessary to explore other factors that can increase perceived control.
