Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
As planned and described in the "Research Plan and Method" of the application for this research project, the first year was spent doing literature review and interviews. Those have however not yet generated a model mature enough to move on to the next step of our research agenda, model-testing. The literature review and interviews of the past year have suggested that while independent variables should remain as described in the application, i.e. reflecting individual background in terms of biculturalism (parents, country, and school), dependent variables may not be limited to organizational roles but maybe include motivations (individual & organizational, at hiring time & after a given tenure in the organization), organizational identification, cultural fit (fit between the individual and the organizational culture), or other personal, social and task outcomes. It is not yet clear either if the above-mentioned variables will not be treated as mediating or moderating ones.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
As already mentioned above in the "Summary of Research Achievements" section, the literature review and interviews done during the exploratory phase of the first year have not yet generated a model mature enough, thus preventing us to move on to the next phase of our research agenda, model-testing. An eureka effect is then expected during the second year of the research project.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Following on from what we wrote in the "Summary of Research Achievements" section above, we shall need part of the second year to decide on the variables that will remain in our model, hopefully allowing us to be able to test a well-structured model before the end of the year.
|
Causes of Carryover |
48,481 yens remained at the end of the fiscal year because expenses linked to definition of the survey population and to questionnaire creation did not occur.
|
Expenditure Plan for Carryover Budget |
The remaining 48,481 yens should be use this coming year with the same usage initially planned, i.e. for questionnaire creation.
