Development of laser-assisted electron momentum spectroscopy for understanding interaction between strong laser filed and matter

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

前年度までの成果を踏まえて、本年度は以下の3つの整備を行った。一つは、レーザー支援電子運動量分光実験の信号強度の改善である。パルス電子線生成用のレーザー光の空間強度分布を均一化することにより、現状と比較しておよそ2倍の強度のプローブ高速電子線パルスを生成可能とした。二つ目は、経年劣化が原因と思われる現有レーザー設備の複数のトラブルの解消である。すなわち、損傷を受けた非線形光学結晶の入れ替えや、レーザー発振のための種々のパルス電子機器の故障の修繕を行った。三つ目は、レーザー支援電子運動量分光実験の信号強度のさらなる改善である。レーザー支援電子運動量分光散乱はレーザー場があるときにのみ起こる現象なので、ポンプ光とプローブ電子線の速度差に起因する時間分解能を用いるポンプ光のパルス幅、サブピコ秒に近づけなければならない。そこで、所内競争的資金で別途購入した回折格子を転用してポンプ光の波面を傾けるシステムを構築した。
上記の3つの整備の成果を踏まえて、レーザー支援電子運動量分光実験に挑んだ。しかしながら、明確なレーザー支援電子運動量分光データを得ることはできなかった。そこで、種々の実験条件下でのドレスト状態を対象としたレーザー支援電子運動量分光散乱断面積計算を行った。その結果、現有のセットアップでは原子よりも空間的異方性を持つ二原子分子を対象とする方が実験観察は容易になることが分かり、さらには現状と比較して一桁程度強いレーザー光子場を用いれば「レーザー支援電子運動量分光」は具現化できるとの力強い理論的予測を得た。これは、現有のレーザーと比較して数十倍の強度を出力可能な市販の最先端レーザーで実現可能な数値である。以上により、近年のレーザー技術の進展でもたらされた新しい形の「光と物質との相互作用」の本質的理解に挑むための確たる技術的基盤を得ることに成功した。
