Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Ulvan, a sulfated glucuronorhamnan polysaccharide extracted from Ulva spp. green macroalgae, is selectively hydrolyzed to monosaccharides, such as rhamnose, over solid acid catalysts under mild hydrothermal conditions at approximately 403K. The order of the catalytic activities of the solid-acid catalysts depends on the kinds of polysaccharides. Ulvan is selectively hydrolyzed to monosaccharides over solid acid catalysts under mild conditions.
