Outline of Final Research Achievements |
How Wnt proteins regulate morphogenesis and cell polarity is poorly understood. From visualization of Wnt11 in early Xenopus embryos, following possibilities are suggested. 1. Wnt11 shows different specificity for heparan sulfate from that of Wnt8. 2. Cell edges with Wnt11 accumulation tend to shrink. 3. For the regulation of planar cell polarity (PCP), Wnt11 appears to regulate amounts of core PCP components in a localized manner.
