Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Our collaborators have determined which multi-heme cytochrome proteins are expressed by ANME archaea. We have now designed antibodies against these same proteins, which should be finished within three months. After these are completed, we will apply them as initially described in the proposal. In addition, we have summarized the current biochemical understanding of anaerobic methane oxidation in a review article which was published this year.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Design of antibodies took longer than expected, but this has now been accomplished and they are ready to be made.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The plan remains the same as in the initial proposal. We are now making antibodies against ANME multiheme cytochromes and will apply them to cells to find out where they are located - on the inside, or outside of the cells.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Design of antibodies took longer than expected and they are ready to be made in FY2017.
|
Expenditure Plan for Carryover Budget |
The remaining budget is planned to be used for the experiments in FY2017.
