| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
初年度で得られた主な成果は以下の通りである。
１）バベシア培養物を低温下に感作させ、赤血球外へと放出されたバベシアを回収・精製し、未感染赤血球への感染（侵入）効率を測定することで、最適の赤血球侵入評価系を確立した。
２）ベトナム、タイ、及びエジプトに分布するバベシアの赤血球侵入に関わる原虫因子の遺伝子多型について解読した。
３）バベシアの阻害剤を簡易にスクリーニングできる評価系を確立し、阻害剤のいくつかの候補を同定した。
４）バベシアのバイオイメージング解析に有効な遺伝子組換え原虫の作製系の改良に成功した。

Reason
初年度において、バベシア培養物を低温下に感作させ、赤血球外へと放出されたバベシアを回収・精製し、未感染赤血球への感染（侵入）効率を測定することで、最適の赤血球侵入評価系を確立したことから、おおむね順調に進展していると考える。

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
平成28年度では、確立された赤血球侵入評価系を用いてワクチン開発に向けた応用研究へと展開する。すなわち、バベシアが赤血球へと侵入する様子をリアルイメージングで観察するとともに、赤血球侵入に関連した各種組換え抗原に対する特異抗体を単独、あるいは様々な組み合わせで介入させ、原虫の赤血球侵入阻止効果を比較・検証する。得られた成果を総括して、最も赤血球への侵入を阻止できる（カクテル型）サブユニットワクチンを提案する。

| Causes of Carryover |
遺伝子解析が先行した結果、抗体作製の準備が次年度に移行した。その結果、抗体作製とその免疫学的解析に関わる使用額が次年度となった。

平成28年度の直接経費の使用計画として、物品費：1,199,714円、旅費：600,000円、その他：350,286円（合計：2,150,000円）を予定いている。
