Outline of Final Research Achievements

When we make subjective decisions for sequentially presented items, each decision assimilates toward the decision for the preceding trial. In this study, we found that the bias effect occurs not only at the judgment level but also at the perception level.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

判断におけるバイアス効果は実社会場面においても生じており、様々な場面で正確な判断や適切な選定ができなくなる弊害を生じることが示唆されている。本研究は刺激の高次印象の判断に対するバイアス効果が、知覚レベルにおいても生じることを初めて明らかにしたが、これらの成果は実社会場面におけるバイアス効果を除去する上で、知覚や判断といった各処理レベルのバイアス効果がどのように影響しているかに関する基礎的知見を提供すると考えられる。
