Outline of Final Research Achievements |
A reduction in attention during meals was found to suppress diet-induced thermogenesis and reduce appetite. In addition, artificial suppression of visual and gustatory cues (sweetness), during meals led to decreased meal satisfaction and reduced food intake, but also facilitated overeating at subsequent meals. This suggests that inhibiting attention and sensory cues during meals may lead to physiological responses and eating behaviors that contribute to weight gain.
