Outline of Final Research Achievements

1)We investigated the abnormalities in joint kinetic parameters in patients with PAD at both self-selected and at fast walking speeds using a three-dimensional motion analysis device. Compared with the controls, patients with PAD showed a significant reduction in walking speed and peak hip flexor generation power in both modes of walking.
2)We investigated how joint kinetic parameters change before and after endovascular therapy (EVT). EVT significantly increased walking speed, hip flexor joint moment. However, these were significantly lower in the PAD patients after EVT compared with the healthy controls.
Our results suggest that hip flexor muscles may be a useful target for exercise training in patients with PAD.
