Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of non-supervised exercise training on postoperative health related quality of life (HRQOL) and muscle strength, functional exercise capacity in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who underwent lung resection. We randomly assigned postoperative NSCLC patients to perform 30 min non-supervised training by using accelerometer and booklet for self-training, 5days/week over a 3-month. The primary outcome measure was HRQOL by using EORTC-QLQ-C30. The secondly were handgrip force and isometric quadriceps force, 6 min walk distance. The patients were not tolerated with no adverse events associated with non-supervised training. Non-supervised training tended to improve functional exercise capacity, however HRQOL did not improve. These findings suggest that this intervention was feasible and safe, and would enhance to recovery of postoperative functional dysfunction in NSCLC patients.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
