Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The recipient conducted semi-structured interviews and student journal analysis. For objective (1) of the research proposal, the longitudinal effects of PBL curriculum on student learning and (2) the effectiveness of an engineering-based PBL in English curriculum, the recipient published how students in an engineering PBL in English course describe skills gained from the course that transfer to other life areas (e.g. giving presentation, problem-solving, design, etc.). For objective (3) potential to expand PBL curriculum in English to other institutions, the recipient published/presented research and conducted workshops domestically and internationally on ways to develop materials and incorporate STEM PBL in English into secondary and higher education engineering and language curricula.
