Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
KGU ethics approval was received in July 2015. Materials and instruments were prepared from August to September 2015. The research used the following data collection instruments: 1) audio-recordings of task performances, 2) learner diaries, and 3) motivational flow questionnaires. Participants included 25 non-Japanese, international students and 49 Japanese students. The data collection period lasted 11 weeks from October to December, 2015. All data has been collected for this research project. Data included 36 hours of audio recorded learner interaction, 156 written diaries, and 174 questionnaire administered. During the period January 2016 to March 2016, all diaries had been translated from Japanese into English and all audio-recordings had been transcribed.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The analysis of the data will be completed from May to July 2016. From August 2016 to March 2017, I intend to disseminate the results through various conferences and reports. Specifically, I intend to present the findings at the 35th Second Language Research Forum in September 2016 and the American Association of Applied Linguistics in March, 2017. During the period January to March 2017, I also intend to write two research papers based on this research. Written reports will be sent to a peer reviewed journal, such as TESOL Quarterly or Applied Linguistics.
