Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I conducted further research with respect to patent requirements for pharmaceutical inventions as well as for limitations to patent protection due to competition law in the ICT sector. I also shifted my research to the review of infringement remedies which have a direct impact on the level of protection awarded for patents. I worked on the draft of a paper based on my March 2016 presentation on the patentability of second medical indications and patent-term extension at the Duesseldorf Patent Law Conference. I presented a paper at the IP Scholars Conference at Stanford Law School in August 2016, and submitted a book chapter on patent damages in September 2016.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The progress in the first year was faster than expected, mostly powered by a very successful conference that we hosted in 2015. Thus, I was able to explore different other features related to the research question.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I will present my findings at two international conferences / lecture during 2017, and try to publish my findings in an international law journal.
|
Causes of Carryover |
I will continue to attend international conferences, and thus will incur travel expenses.
|
Expenditure Plan for Carryover Budget |
- Meet with research collaborators in Stanford - Present paper on patent enforcement at ATRIP conference in New Zealand.
