Outline of Final Research Achievements |
I have searched for photon-photon elastic scattering at SACLA using a Laue-case beam splitter. No evidence of x-ray photon-photon scattering was observed, but the most stringent limit on the scattering cross section in the x-ray region was obtained. This result is published in Phys. Lett. B 763 (2016) 454-457. Collision of an x-ray free electron laser and a high power near-infrared laser expects a much larger cross section of photon-photon scattering and is a new promising method to observe photon-photon scattering. I have developed a optical system to focus both lasers to 10 μm focal spot and collide them spacially and temporally.
